Respite Care is an essential part of the overall support families may need to keep an individual with intellectual/developmental disabilities at home. Respite provides a "break" from the daily challenges of caring for an individual with special needs.

Respite services can take place in the individual's home, the home of a non-family care provider, or an AEI facility, if space is available. Respite can take place regularly or intermittently as you need it; however, it does not need to be planned in advance.
